What is Multiply?

Burdened about the commitment level of the local church to make disciples of all nations, Pastor David and Francis Chan decided to join together and come alongside the local church to emphasize discipleship – a much-neglected aspect of our calling as followers of Christ. 

Over the past year they have been working together to develop resources and materials that introduce foundational topics for those seeking to learn God’s Word with the intent to disciple others.  They developed Multiply to encourage and equip the church to make disciples.  Multiply does this through three primary avenues.

  • The Multiply Gathering

    A once-a-year gathering with Pastor David and Francis Chan that fuels the purpose of Multiply.  The purpose of the Gatherings is to come together with other followers of Christ in their local churches and homes to encourage one another in the disciple-making process.

    The first Gathering will take place on Friday, November 9, 2012, here at The Church at Brook Hills from 7-10pm.  The second Gathering will take place the following evening, November 10, 2012, at the SF City Impact Mission, in San Francisco, CA, from 6-9pm (PST). The content will be the same at each Gathering but will be presented uniquely at each location. 

  • The Multiply Material

    The material is a 24-session discipleship experience where one person helps another understand what it means to follow Jesus, study Scripture, and to be a part of Christ’s mission for the church. This material will be available on the Multiply website in the near future as a free download online and will include helpful videos and additional resources to assist you as you study through the material. A hard copy edition will also be available later this year wherever books are sold.

  • The Multiply Website

    A central hub that contains resources that will be helpful in the disciple-making process - the Multiply Blog, informational videos, and registration for the Multiply Gatherings.  The site is still under development with additional resources and tools that will be added to the site in the near future.
