Am I Really a Christian?

By Cory Varden

Last week I highlighted Mike McKinley’s important book, Am I Really a Christian?.  I mentioned how intriguing this book is, and how it should prompt self-examination in anyone who reads it.  One look at the Table of Contents will grab your attention.  Here are a few of the chapter titles…

Chapter 1 – You are Not a Christian Just Because you Say That You Are

Chapter 3 – You Are Not a Christian Just Because You Like Jesus

Chapter 5 – You are Not a Christian If You Do Not Endure to the End

Chapter 7 – You Are Not a Christian If You Love Your Stuff

McKinley says that his hope throughout this book is to cause people to look carefully at their lives before it is too late.  He points to places in Scripture where we learn exactly on what basis we can examine ourselves to see whether we are in the faith.

Consider working through this book yourself or passing it along to a friend. Discussing this topic would be a great way to see if someone truly understands the gospel.
