Self-Righteousness: The Anti-Gospel

By Eric Parker

Martin LutherOver 490 years ago, 15th century Reformation theologian, Martin Luther, presented the following words to the German Augustinian order in Heidelberg, Germany.

“One is not righteous who does much, but the one who, without work, believes much in Christ. The law says, ‘Do this,’ and it is never done. Grace says, ‘Believe in this,’ and everything is already done.”

May these truths which flow from the gospel never lose their beauty and luster. Amen.
