Overview

  • What is the Radical Intensive?

This year, The Church at Brook Hills in Birmingham, AL and Radical (Radical.net) will host approximately 50-100 pastors and church leaders from Sunday night to Wednesday morning, May 5-8, 2013.  This is a gathering designed to serve pastors and church leaders who are interested in discussing how to infuse global disciple-making into the heart of their local church.

Participants will join together to worship at Brook Hills on Sunday evening and then, over the next few days, join in discussions with Senior Pastor David Platt as well as other church leaders and members as they share how biblical principles have guided the mission practices in our faith family.  You will also have the opportunity to interact with our Global Disciple-Making Team and others during breakout sessions to consider the implications of a priority on global disciple-making in the local church.

Come ready to explore it all ... from the biblical basis of mission, to sending people out as short-term, mid-term and long-term missionaries, prioritizing the budget for global mission, and much more.  It’s all on the table.

  • Why should I attend the Radical Intensive?

"Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations..." (Matthew 28:19-20). We are persuaded by God's Word that the church is the primary means in which the Great Commission will be accomplished (Eph 1:22-23, Acts 1:8, 1 Cor 12) . We want pastors and church leaders to attend the Radical Intensive in order to share from our experience and to encourage one another to see the local church mobilized for global disciple-making (Phil 3:17, 4:9)

We don’t pretend to have all of the answers and we confess there are many challenges we still face.  But our faith family has been compelled by God’s Word and his grace in our lives to live out biblical mission. In that process, over the past several years, we have learned a great deal and this has caused us to redefine our priorities and develop new practices and processes.  We know many of you are praying through some of the same questions and we want to share our journey with you.

Our intention is not to propose a simple formula for global disciple-making in the local church.  Instead, we desire to encourage church leaders to consider how best to apply biblical principles to local contexts for the accomplishment of global missions.

  • Who can attend the Radical Intensive?

The Radical Intensive is intended for the Senior Pastor, missions leader and/or any other leaders in your church (elder, deacon, or lay leader).

We believe strongly that the leadership of a Senior Pastor is necessary to trumpet the call to global disciple-making in the local church.  As a result, we are providing this conference for Senior Pastors to attend with other leaders in their church as together they consider how to best lead the church in global missions.

Due to limited availability, the Radical Intensive is open to a limited number of participants.

    • Senior Pastors are required to attend with their church leadership.
    • Registrants are expected to participate in the entire schedule beginning from 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 5, through 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 8.
    • We ask that you submit your registration only if you are able to attend the entire Radical Intensive.
    • If your registration is processed, please note that it is conditional upon your full participation in the schedule.
    • Due to the limited space, we require that each church send at least 2 participants (one of which is the Senior Pastor) and no more than 4 participants.
