Frequently Asked Questions
Q. What About Childcare?
Secret Church is a 6-hour intensive Bible study meeting from 6:00 p.m. to midnight. Because of the length of the meeting, and the late hour, childcare at the church is not available.
Q. Who Can Attend Secret Church?
We do not recommend Secret Church for those under age 13 because of the length of the study. Also, because some images of the persecuted church around the world used during the prayer time may be a bit graphic, parents should use caution when bringing minors to Secret Church.
We welcome Christ-followers and others from around the area who may wish to study with us at Secret Church on these selected Friday evenings.
Q. What do I bring?
You will need to bring a Bible with you to Secret Church--David teaches from the English Standard Version (ESV), but many other translations will work well. You may want to avoid paraphrased or modern "reading" translations like "The Message" or "New Living Translation" in favor of the NIV, New American Standard (NAS), English Standard Version (ESV) or King James Version (KJV). Although the language in these versions is a little more difficult, you'll find it easier to follow along.
Also bring a notebook and pen. A study guide will be provided for you, but you may prefer to have some additional paper to record additional notes.
Q. Do you take up an offering?
Each Secret Church meeting, we'll focus on the persecuted church in a different region of the world. You will have the opportunity to be a part of a special offering which will help persecuted congregations in that region of the world through Brook Hills' Global Disciple-Making ministries. Participation in the offering is optional.
Q. Can I bring food to Secret Church?
We encourage you to grab dinner before you arrive. We will have snacks for purchase during the breaks throughout the evening for a minimal charge. Coffee and water are also available. You can bring your own snacks and drinks, but we do not allow any food or beverages in the worship room during Secret Church.
Q. Does my ticket guarantee my seat?
Seating for Secret Church is first come, first serve. The doors will open at 5:15p.m. We almost always have a packed house and sometimes we will have to use our overflow seating outside of the worship room. Every seat in our worship room offers a good view, but if you want to choose your seat, you will need to come early!
